Boys Hockey Program Overview

The Hill-Murray Pioneer Boys Varsity Hockey program can boast of an unparalleled tradition in Minnesota high school athletics. It is considered by many to be the premier program in the state. Playing in the tough Classic Suburban conference, the program's successful history includes:

  • Won 32 conference championships in 37 years
  • Reached Section 3 semifinals: 33 of 34 years
  • Reached Section 3 final: 26 of 34 years
  • 15-0 in section finals 1975-1993
  • 22 State Tournament appearances
  • 13 Times reached state semifinals
  • Played in 9 state championship games (7 in 14 years, 1980-1993)
  • Won 6 runner-up, 2 3rd Place, & 2 consolation titles
  • Won 3 State Titles - 1983, 1991, 2008
  • Won 2 Independent State Titles - 1970, 1972

In 2008, the Pioneers once again won the Classic Suburban Conference title and section title, advancing to the Minnesota State Tournament where they finished as State Champions! As a harbinger of the future of the program, while the varsity team won the tourney, the Junior varsity team finished its season with a stellar 22-3 record and won the prestigious Schwan's cup.
